This was an established and well-presented small-scale initiative. The Rhondda Civic Society are working towards higher ambition and projects with greater impact in future years. Their ethos is “we shall leave this valley not less but greater. Beautiful and more beautiful than it was left to us.”
“With our enflowerment project, we aim to beautify our valley by planting flowers at various public open spaces, not just to brighten up the area, but to make our beautiful valley a place that tourists enjoy and want to come back to. We are a community group and concentrate our efforts on areas we know don’t have any such programme and would not duplicate the work of others. The two flower tubs we have in Treorci outside the Parc and Dare came to the end of their lives and needed to be replaced. Plants are purchased from local shop Treorci Pets and are bee friendly. Colin from the shop takes responsibility for watering the Treorci tubs..” Ann Barrett – Rhondda Civic Society
