Treherbert Rugby Football Club, founded over 140 years ago, is steeped in mining history. The Club is run by local volunteers for the benefit of the local community. It plays a crucial role at the heart of Treherbert village life, providing a lively social focus and encouraging and promoting the game of rugby.
Until now, the Club had access to only one training and playing facility, and with a popular and rapidly growing mini and junior section, were quickly running out of areas to host training sessions and matches for the whole Club.  That is all due to change. With the support of a Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Vision Fund grant of £22,561 (alongside a WRU grant of £15,000), the Club will be able to create a much-needed new, secure training area adjacent to the Club’s current playing pitch.  Rowley Pryse, Club Secretary said “the new site will bring amazing benefits for existing and new Club members – and other local organisations and schools will be able to use the facility too. It will make it possible for people of all ages to take part in physical activity, with all the health and wellbeing benefits that brings.”
