MICRO FUND GRANT – £5,000
Scoobs Doggy Day Care aimed to offer a reliable, flexible, comprehensive, affordable, friendly pet-care service for dog owners at applicant’s own home – targeted at customers within a 15-mile radius of Hirwaun.  They aim to expand the business in due course to employ at least one local person.  Services include boarding, grooming, walking, pick-up and drop-off, dog creche for those in employment, going to hospital appointments etc.

This was a well-developed proposal – the applicant had thought through issues involved in setting up a business of this kind very clearly, had carried out research and had a business plan in place.

“The business started in May 2018, after being made redundant I decided to start up a business and this is now employing me full time and employ a young person part time. I provide dog grooming, dog walking and a pick up and drop off service. I provide a safe secure place for pet grooming and so far, the business and my customers I have developed have exceeded all my expectations. I am so grateful for the financial support from Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund that I was able to spend on developing the wet room, advertising and signage and upgrades to building that I use for grooming. Hopefully the business will continue to go from strength to strength.” – Amanda (Scoobs)

We are so pleased that things have gone so well for Amanda and she is now fully employed by this business as well as offering a reliable and friendly service for local pet owners. It is great to see how she has adapted when costs came in differently and used the grant, we were able to offer to its full advantage. We wish her every continued success – Pen y Cymoedd
