Grow Rhondda started as a Men’s Shed project using social prescribing in partnership with Rhondda GPs and community connectors at Interlink to develop a network of growing areas around the upper Rhondda and during lockdown were offered the opportunity to take a lease on former Arts Surgery in Tynewydd and with support from landlord RHA. The funding from PyC will cover staff wages for 2 years, sessional worker costs and some project equipment and marketing. It will also cover some training costs for participants of the project who would like formal training. This modest funding award has potential to impact many people at this organisation and really allow them to develop and grow the model by which the organisation is run ensuring long term sustainability of the group, we wish them all the best and can’t wait to see how things develop.
