Barbara, our Executive Director, left the Fund on the 19th of June. Barbara has brought a huge amount of knowledge, expertise and passion to the Fund and to our Area of Benefit and our communities.
Having a varied background in the Public and Third Sector, Barbara was able to understand complex public policy as well as have great empathy with our communities and the challenges they face on a day to day basis.
As our founding Executive Director, Barbara was our first member of staff and had to set up all our systems and processes as well as recruit our brilliant team of Kate and now Michelle.
It has been great to hear the amazing feedback from individuals and groups who have been so appreciative of the support from the Fund and from Barbara.
As the Fund evolves over the next 20 years our success will depend on so many individuals, but Barbara’s place in the history of our Fund is assured. Thank you, Barbara, we wish you well in all your future endeavours.
It has been a joy to work with Barbara over several years to look at how we can support Pen Y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund to reach out to local communities. We have supported an amazing range of exceptional projects with Barbara’s help and enthusiasm – Interlink RCT
When I first made contact with Pen y Cymoedd Wind farm about the possibility of applying for a grant I was feeling completely overwhelmed at the prospect of applying for any funding. Barbara was brilliant, her relaxed demeanour and careful consideration of my many (some silly!) questions made me feel at home. I will be sorry to see her go from the fund as she has been such a great supporter of so many wonderful projects in the local community, best of luck for the future Barbara from all at Hot Jam!
Barbara has been such a support for us over the last few years, she’ll be hugely missed! Once again, many thanks for your continued support – Dan and Nia, Penderyn Furniture Company
It’s been a pleasure working with you, you have done an astounding job in setting up the fund and championing our communities. Enjoy your future adventures – Karleigh Davies, Tourism Manager
So sad to see you go but good luck in your new endeavours. On behalf of the Gwynfi Miners Community Hall and our loyal and resolute community I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your overwhelming support and the dedication and passion you have demonstrated to help organisations like ours. You have truly worked above and beyond for the betterment of our communities and without you and Kate`s unwavering support the Gwynfi Miners Community Hall would have not been able to grow and develop into the diverse community resource that is now the heart and soul of community life, and for many more years to come. So, thank you so much Barbara and I wish you and your family good health and all the best for the future. I am sure Kate will continue with her excellent work and no doubts she will be there if we need guidance and support in the future.
Can I take this opportunity to say that I will be sad to see you leave PyC. You have helped me and Glynneath RFC, Glynneath Town Council and residents that have come to you over the last few years. I wish you well in whatever it is your going on to do – Cllr Knoyle Glynneath
I have enjoyed working alongside Barbara for the last 18 months, learning about the Pen Y Cymoedd Community Wind Farm Fund and how it supports our Communities in the Upper Rhondda and Upper Cynon areas in particular. Barbara shows a lot of empathy towards our grass roots groups and always strives to ensure they are able to deliver quality provision through the PYC Funding. I will miss Barbara and her delight in sing- along with Radio 2 at the PYC Office in Aberdare – Meriel Gough, Interlink
We were new to this type of funding and we are sorry to see Barbara leave after the tremendous support and advice she gave us towards a successful application. We wish her well – Tony South East Wales Rivers Trust
I started at the fund a couple of weeks after Barbara and for three and a half years we have worked together every day. Barbara is by far the most generous manager I have ever had, she showed faith and confidence in me, included me in everything and acted as a manager, a mentor and a friend and I am very sad we will no longer be working together- Kate Pen y Cymoedd
