Back in November 2021 Y Siop Fach Sero approached the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund with a vision is to create an environmental sustainability hub in the Rhondda Fach to educate about climate change by providing practical and accessible ways to live more sustainably whilst increasing physical health and wellbeing.
We were thrilled to support them with a grant of £26,000. It has been a longer process than planned but today they opened the doors to Y Siop Fach Sero in Ferndale. The project has also been supported with funding from the Welsh Church Act Fund, People and Work and the Rank Foundation.
The venue provides a zero waste shop, an environmental sustainability hub and takes donations of sports kit and equipment and provide those items, and activities, at low prices via Play it Again Sport and that is just the start of what they have planned.
“This has the potential to be a real asset to the local community and the wider Rhondda area supporting the growing need for sustainable options and addressing the increasing pressure on the environment and we wish them every success.”
