Dallaglio RugbyWorks is a rugby orientated intensive skills and health development intervention aimed at helping teenagers who are facing the most barriers to a positive and productive future.
The intervention will involve weekly sessions with Rugby Works coaches going in to schools working with a specified group of young people. Their previous work has shown that many of these young people just need to be given a fair chance to reach their potential and that is what they aim to do regardless of their past or background. They strive to ensure that every young person who completes the intervention are both physically and mentally healthier, armed with an extra qualification and has developed a sound base social skills that they can then use in the employability market post school.
How does this project link to the communities’ and fund’s priorities?
- Communities that are healthier and more active
- Low level health and social issues can be dealt with locally – preventative support or rapid intervention. It contributes to resilient communities.
“We funded them with a Micro Fund grant previously and thrilled with the delivery and outcomes we were pleased to offer Vision Fund support to work in Ferndale Community School and Ty Gwyn over the next 3 years. As an organisation they bring significant funding of their own and have a clear plan of delivery and engagement and we wish them every success.” – Kate Breeze, Executive Director, Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund.
“At Dallaglio RugbyWorks, we are thrilled that the Peny Y Cymoedd Community Fund will continue supporting us through the Vision Fund. This ongoing support allows us to maintain our efforts at Ty Gwyn Alternative Provision and Ferndale Community School. Our program is dedicated to focusing on each individual, helping them develop and achieve a positive and productive future. We look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of young people over the next three years.” – Dan Ley, Dallaglio RugbyWorks
