We’re proud to announce that the Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund has awarded £19,500 to Blackline Academy Ltd to deliver The Apex Series – a focused business growth programme designed to support 12 local businesses within the fund area.

The Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund is committed to backing initiatives that help local businesses develop, expand and diversify. By supporting programmes like The Apex Series, the Fund is helping businesses become more financially, environmentally and economically sustainable – strengthening local employment and supporting long-term growth across our communities.

What is The Apex Series?

The Apex Series is a practical, in-person development programme created for established businesses that are ready to take the next step forward. Delivered locally, the programme consists of four expert-led sessions designed to help businesses strengthen their foundations, improve profitability and build resilience for the future.

The programme will support participants across key areas including:

Sales and revenue growth

Operations and business systems

Marketing and audience development

Leadership and long-term strategic planning

Through a combination of workshops, practical tools, mentoring and peer learning, participating businesses will gain clear action plans, stronger internal systems and the confidence to grow in a sustainable way.

“This type of targeted support is vital for our local businesses. Many have moved beyond start-up and now need help to build confidence, strengthen leadership and embed sustainable growth. Supporting them at this stage helps protect jobs and create stronger local economies.

We were confident backing Blackline Academy because the Apex Series focuses on deep, tailored support for established businesses we know will benefit. The combination of expert-led sessions, peer learning and 1:1 mentoring gives the programme real potential to deliver lasting impact across our communities” – Kate Breeze, Executive Director – Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund

“Many businesses in Wales struggle to grow not because of a lack of ambition or talent, but because founders don’t have access to the right support at the point when growth becomes complex. Issues around revenue clarity, scalable systems and leadership confidence are some of the most common barriers I see.

Having been born and raised in this area, and having built my own businesses here, I understand those challenges first-hand. This area is rich in entrepreneurial potential, but too often that potential is limited by isolation and a lack of high-quality, practical business support delivered locally.

Support from Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund is vital because it allows established businesses to access the strategic and leadership development needed to scale sustainably, create jobs and build long-term resilience within our communities.”- Tomas Phillips, CEO and Founder – Blackline Academy
