With funding of £98,000 over 3 years they will work with all 4 Afan schools (Croeserw, Cymmer Afan, Pen Afan and Glyncorrwg)
- Provide a coach/mentor per school every week for 3 years
- Run wellbeing workshops in each school
- Establish and run after-school clubs with approximately 40 children from each school participating in these clubs
- Host an Annual School Tournament
- Upskill school staff members to become Project Ambassadors, ensuring project continuity and leadership development
- Train pupils to become Junior Project Ambassadors within each school
- Work with Croeserw Football Club, to promote football as a sport and to encourage children’s participation.
Not only will the funding create 2 jobs, but it will also have immediate and long-term impact engaging the children in activities that have positive impact on their physical and mental wellbeing.
They have match funding from Principality and it is fantastic to see that even facing significant budget restrictions, all schools have committed an element of funding as that shows they are seeing real potential for the project.
We wish them every success over the next 3 years.
We’re so excited to kick off this 3-year project, which will bring lasting benefits to the children, their families, schools, and the wider community. This initiative will strengthen connections with local sports clubs and create opportunities that will leave a lifelong impact. None of this would have been possible without the amazing support from Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm! – Matthew Gubb, Goalgetters
