Background

Pen y Cymoedd CIC has appointed Wavehill, an independent social and economic research consultancy, to evaluate the impact of funding from its Community Fund. The evaluation is using a range of methodologies to assess the impact on communities in the Area of Benefit. See the Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund website for details of the fund, including its priorities.
£5,000 has been allocated to commission an innovative approach to evaluation using a creative methodology to engage with grant recipient beneficiaries and to capture the impacts of the funding.

The Fund is seeking proposals for a project that will:

  • Explore the impact of funding from the Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund through a creative methodology.
  • Engage with a community or group of communities within the Pen y Cymoedd Area of Benefit. These communities can be place based or theme based.
  • Be able to be shared with wider community either online or as a physical installation/travelling piece.

Project specification

The proposal should result in a tangible output that provides insight into the impact of the fund or a specific element of the fund. The Fund does not wish to be prescriptive in what type of creative approach will be taken. It is seeking innovative ideas.

Proposals should outline:

Name, address and contact details of the organisation proposing the project.

  • A brief outline of the project proposal, including details of who it will involve, how the project will engage people and what the tangible output will be
  • A brief outline of any track record the organisation has in delivering similar projects.
  • Cost of the project including both capital and revenue items.
  • Timescales, including the anticipated start date and end date for the project.

Note that if the proposal is for an installation /piece of artwork then all permissions need to be in place for the final display of the piece.

Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund CIC and their appointed contractors shall be given permission to use any images and media produced by the project for the promotion and evaluation of the Community Fund.

The successful project will be required to share their experience of delivering the project with others. This will not involve a lot of time, just a willingness to discuss their experience with Wavehill consultants and agree to be written up as a case study.

Timeframe

Proposals should be submitted to nikkivousden@wavehill.com by 02/09/24.

Wavehill and Pen y Cymoedd CIC will evaluate the proposals and notify applicants as soon as possible following the deadline. We reserve the right to ask request further information/undertake interviews if considered necessary.

There is flexibility regarding start and end dates, but we would expect the project to commence as soon as possible following commissioning of the project.
