£26,000 has been awarded as a loan/grant mix to Treherbert Pharmacy for their Retail/Dispensary Renovation project.
The project entailed a comprehensive renovation of a community pharmacy site in Treherbert, creating an appropriate clinical space to be able to provide needed and upgraded pharmacy services. Clinical services were not previously provided at this location, but since the pharmacy changed ownership, it has been able to give patients in the community a place to get treatment as needed. Treherbert Pharmacy will be able to expand this service going forward thanks to the renovation, giving an already overburdened NHS area more easily accessible clinician time.
“From day 1 trading they have had clinical services available and improved access to this crucial aspect of healthcare. This has been proven with over 100 consultations during their first month of trading. This funding will help them improve the interior of the pharmacy to allow growth in dispensing and service provision. There was significant match funding across the whole project and improving the high street as well as providing quality healthcare to local community.” – Holly Jones, Enterprise Support and Finance Officer
‘The new owners and pharmacist in Treherbert Pharmacy are highly ambitious, clinically focused pharmacists who see an opportunity to bring a suite of modern patient focused services to the local population. Funding from Pen y Cymoedd would not only help improve premises- bringing added vibrancy to the hight street, but will help in upskilling the fantastic team, and providing an increased range of high-quality NHS services to the benefit of the communities of Treherbert and the surrounding areas. The people of the Rhondda deserve access to top quality healthcare’ – Community Pharmacy Wales
Tom, one of the owners of the Pharmacy stated ‘The response from the community has been amazing and very positive comments.’
